All Great Things Must Come to an End

Everybody across America was rooting for the Cinderella, Sideline Cancer team, in tonight's TBT Championship game unless they are a Marquette fan. Reason being, $100,000 of the team's winnings was set to be donated to the Griffith Foundation (an organization that raises money to fight pancreatic cancer). In addition, SC was dedicating this tournament to one of their late teammates, Jermaine Marshall, who passed away in January of 2019 in France where he was playing basketball professionally. How could you not root for these guys? Being the 22 seed, they had already pulled off four upsets in the tournament and they just needed to win one more game to be crowned champions and win one million dollars. The Golden Eagles (fourth seeded Marquette alumni team) on the other hand, were the favored team in all three games they had played thus far and did their job by not being upset. In this championship game, the Golden Eagles were favored by 5.5 points. However, according to an Instagram poll conducted by TBT's official page, 53% of voters picked Sideline Cancer to win. The game was a hard fought game by both teams. The Golden Eagles got off to a very good start but Sideline Cancer struck right back and it was back and forth pretty much from the second quarter and on. To start the Elam ending, the teams were tied at 70. It was probably the quickest Elam ending I have ever seen. That would make sense because the minimum amount of possessions were needed to reach the target score, 78. The Golden Eagles opened with an easy dunk off an inbounds play. SC answered with a huge three by tournament hero, Marcus Keene. That was only his sixth point of the game as they locked him up but his facilitating to other teammates was still exceptional. The score was now 73-72 SC and the Golden Eagles forced a contested three towards the end of the shot clock and missed but SC was charged with a lose ball foul. The Golden Eagles then scored a three on that second chance and they lead 75-73. SC called a timeout but ended up settling for a bad three point shot in my opinion, and missed. The Golden Eagles would go on to shoot a wide open corner three after some excellent ball movement and win the game 78-73. It was a great game and well deserved win but of course I wish Sideline Cancer would have won. The Tournament ran really well given the circumstances they were faced to cope with and if the NBA runs as smoothly, we could be in for some outstanding NBA postseason basketball. I can't wait for many sports to start up again. Tomorrow is a UFC Fight Night so will most likely be inactive, sorry about that. I'm also sorry about yesterday. I was tired and there quite frankly wasn't anything I felt was important to write about. I'll see y'all Thursday which will be one week until MLB Opening Day/Night.
