The Detroit Lions had an awful 2019 season by finishing the year 3-12-1. Their quarterback, Matthew Stafford, broke his 136 game streak of starting dating back to 2010 after suffering a back injury in week 9. The Lions would lose the last nine games without Stafford. I honestly don't think they would've been much better with Stafford but I'm sure they would've gotten a couple more wins. Anyway, those losses may have helped the Lions because they got the third pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. With that pick, the Lions drafted Jeff Okudah, a corner back out of The Ohio State Univeristy. Many experts are comparing Okudah to some of the league's best cornerbacks such as Stephon Gilmore and Patrick Peterson. The Lions certainly could use that level of talent from Okudah as they just lost their best cornerback, Darius Slay, in a trade to the Philadelphia Eagles. Although Stafford is back and Okudah has star potential, I don't think the Lions have a great overall team and it is probably not their year. Below is my regular season prediction for the Detroit Lions.
Week 1: vs. Chicago Bears - win
Week 2: @ Green Bay Packers - loss
Week 3: @ Arizona Cardinals - loss
Week 4: vs. New Orleans Saints - loss
Week 5: Bye Week
Week 6: @ Jacksonville Jaguars - win
Week 7: @ Atlanta Falcons - loss
Week 8: vs. Indianapolis Colts - loss
Week 9: @ Minnesota Vikings - loss
Week 10: vs. Washington Redskins - win
Week 11: @ Carolina Panthers - loss
Week 12: vs. Houston Texans - loss
Week 13: @ Chicago Bears - loss
Week 14: vs. Green Bay Packers - loss
Week 15: @ Tennessee Titans - loss
Week 16: vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - win
Week 17: vs. Minnesota Vikings - loss
I have the Lions going 4-12 this year which lead the Lions to another great draft pick. One of the best Lions games comes in week seven against the Falcons. Stafford and Ryan are two great veteran quarterback and I think it will be a great high scoring game. I have the Falcons winning by double digits in this one but it will be close for awhile. I think the Lions best win comes against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at home. Although this win significantly worsens their draft pick, this will be a great boost of team moral for the Lions after losing five straight games. I wouldn't be surprised to see Okudah pick off the Goat in this one.
*At the end of this series, once I have gone through every team, I will give my playoff predictions as well as season awards.*
