Herd That STUNS The Money Team

For those of you who don't know, there is professional basketball being played right now in the United States of America; that is The Basketball Tournament also known as TBT. Although I didn't get to watch the full game between Herd That (23 seed) and The Money Team (7 seed), I was able to catch the Elam Ending. Instead of a normal basketball game where the winner is decided after the horn is sounded in the fourth quarter, in the Elam Ending, the clock is taken away after the first whistle with under four minutes to go and the first team to reach the score eight points higher than the current winning team wins. In this game, The Money Team was leading Herd that by a score of 93-84 so the first team to reach 101 points would win the game. It seemed as if the game was all but over but I decided to watch anyway. A few minutes had passed and since there were some very sloppy possessions the score was only 97-86 and The Money Team was still in very good control only needing two buckets to win the game. And then the collapse began. Herd That scored seven straight points to make it 97-93 but this isn't a normal NBA game so you can't say, "wow, they cut it to four points." It's more like, "The Money Team should still win this game because they need two baskets of any sort whereas Herd That still needs at least three baskets and two of them needed to be threes." The Money Team would come down and score a two to make it 99-93 and the game was now seriously all but over. However, I was completely wrong. The game was 99-98 just like that after two made two point baskets and a made free throw and Herd That had the ball with a chance to win with a three. Psych, they didn't hit a three because The Money Team was guarding the three point line strongly so they settled for an easy dunk and The Money Team was gifted with one final chance to not blow the game. One could argue the refs blew the game because they called a guy on the Money Team out of bounds on a catch and shoot three (even though he wasn't out of bounds) but he missed the shot and after watching the play numerous times it is very likely Herd That would have secured the rebound, outletted the ball, and had a layup in transition. Anyway, Herd That would win the game on a very nice contested layup the next possession. I have never seen a team blow that big of a lead in TBT. It's honestly pretty hard to do. Herd That finished the game on a 16-2 run and did not hit a single three over that stretch. They will go on to face Overseas Elite in the quarterfinals on Saturday. I expect Overseas Elite to blow Herd That out of the gym.
