Jimmie Johnson is one of the faces of NASCAR. It feels like the man has been around forever and you wouldn't be wrong to have that feeling. In fact Jimmie has had 663 consecutive starts without missing a race. That is honestly absurd. To do anything 663 times without taking a break is amazing but something as physically draining as NASCAR is remarkable. And now because of one positive COVID test, the man missed his first race in 663 races. I feel like if their is one sport that you can do without spreading your germs is for sure NASCAR. You are literally isolated in your car so there is no chance you can sneeze or cough on anyone. Plus Jimmie said that he was 100% asymptomatic. Jimmie is convinced that the test was a false positive and sadly because of that false positive his incredible streak of races over. He gave this quote on an ESPN interview.
"My first response was just anger. I started cussing and used every cuss word that I knew of, and I think invented a few new ones," -Johnson
I think that sums up everyone's feelings over the past 4 months.
