Although it appears the Raiders had an awful 2019 season by going 7-9, they started off the year 6-4 and were still in playoff contention in week 17. That being said, they did not beat a team with a winning percentage over .500 (best win was Bears who were .500) so they did have a pretty bad season. There was a ton of hype for the Raiders going into 2019 due to the fact that they acquired superstar receiver Antonio Brown but they released him just days before week one after many issues. I don't really think the Raiders will have anything going this year. It was very surprising to see them take Henry Ruggs, the fastest and smallest receiver out of the consensus top three receivers in the 2020 NFL Draft. They are hoping he can make an impact right away because Tyrell Williams is certainly not a WR1. In my opinion, the most exciting part of the Raiders season will be there new stadium in Las Vegas. Below is my regular season prediction for the Las Vegas Raiders.
Week 1: @ Carolina Panthers - loss
Week 2: vs. New Orleans Saints - loss
Week 3: @ New England Patriots - loss
Week 4: vs. Buffalo Bills - loss
Week 5: @ Kansas City Chiefs - loss
Week 6: Bye Week
Week 7: vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - loss
Week 8: @ Cleveland Browns - loss
Week 9: @ Los Angeles Chargers - loss
Week 10: vs. Denver Broncos - win
Week 11: vs. Kansas City Chiefs - loss
Week 12: @ Atlanta Falcons - loss
Week 13: @ New York Jets - loss
Week 14: vs. Indianapolis Colts - loss
Week 15: vs. Los Angeles Chargers - win
Week 16: vs. Miami Dolphins - win
Week 17: @ Denver Broncos - loss
The Raiders just simply don't have a good team. They have two offensive players worth drafting in fantasy (Josh Jacobs RB and Darren Waller TE) but that's about it. I have the Raiders starting the year 0-8. It is inevitable that backup quarterback and former Heisman trophy winner, Marcus Mariota, will become the starter for at least a couple of games to see if they can win at all. The Raiders best win comes is their first win of the season against the Denver Broncos at home. By this point the Raiders will know their season is over so I think they will loosen up and steal a huge game from the Broncos which is probably the difference for the Broncos playoff hopes. Week 13 should be a hard fought game against the Jets and the loss will ultimately benefit them as they will just receive the higher draft pick.
*At the end of this series, once I have gone through every team, I will give my playoff predictions as well as season awards.*
