Well the MLB season isn't looking to good. Baseball in general isn't looking too good. The sport which is America's pastime has lost millions of fans over the last decade. Many just think the game is too slow paced and boring; the struggle to have a season in 2020 amid the Coronavirus is certainly not helping. Basically, the players want their full prorated salaries regardless of how many games are played and the owners want more games played and the players to only have a certain percentage of their prorated salary. We saw this in the new proposal today when the owners proposed a 76 game season where players earn 75% of their prorated salary. Many are saying this was a step in the wrong direction as the players don't care how long the season is as long as they get their full prorated salary. There was no official counter offer from the Players Association but it seems like a 48 game season with full prorated salaries would sit well with them but not the owners. Here are my thoughts. The MLB is just a crap league if they can't get a deal done this year. They will lose more fans and many will protest. The fact that every other league was able to get a deal done and the MLB can't is just pathetic. In a time like this, America needs baseball. Those who watch baseball, love baseball and are struggling without it. Most professional baseball players earn a shit ton of money and it is honestly sad that they can't take a small pay cut for one year to play the game that they supposedly love. When it is all said and done, if their is no season, it would just prove that everybody's just in it for the money which is so sad to think about. Millions of Americans have lost jobs due to the pandemic and these extremely wealthy baseball players aren't willing to get paid 30 million instead of 40 million proportionally to play baseball. It's selfish in my opinion. I understand that they are risking their lives because there are health concerns so there should definitely be some guidelines and rules set in place to protect the players safety as all cost. However, there is no reason the MLB shouldn't have a season in 2020 and if they don't the league is in big trouble. By the way, it seems like their is a new proposal every day from either the owners of Players Association and I'm just tired of about it at this point. Baseball fans get their hopes up everyday but both sides are just too stubborn to agree. It's time to reach a compromise and play the damn game.
