I feel like NASCAR is subtly one of the most interesting and boring of sports in the world. On one hand you have people riding around a road for hours and hours for a total of 400 miles and all you're doing is screaming at your TV to tell them to "just go faster." But on the other hand the strategy involved is kind of crazy to think about. Kevin Harvick dominated the race and won by what seemed like a mile. Jimmie Johnson sadly crashed towards the beginning of the race as he was leading and that's the part that really interested me. Basically Jimmie was in the lead and approaching two cars in front of him who he was going to lap. In what looked like what was going to be a routine pass, Jimmie bumped into the back of the car he was about to pass and spun out of control and was out of the race for good. Now here's my theory/idea. It only makes sense that some of these NASCAR guys have no chance of winning. The amount of money invested in the cars between the top guys like Kevin, and Denny Hamlin compared to the guys towards the bottom of the pack is a big difference. Some of these cars have millions and millions of dollars worth of adjustments and features and that along with the quality of the team and the driver makes them good NASCAR cars. So here's my question. Do the top guys ever payoff some of the lesser guys to crash into the leader? I know its a big accusation but it only makes sense. These guys gotta make money somehow and its not like they need to be so intentional about it make a crash. For example the guy that Jimmie crashed into may have slowed down by 3 mph and then bam, Jimmie runs into the back of the car. This was a way to get Jimmie out of the race and get Kevin the victory. All I'm saying is that it is a possibility and if it doesn't already happen, well than maybe it will be the new meta.
