On this Day in Baseball History...

Updated: Jul 9, 2020

It was today May 7th four years ago that the impossible happened. Bartolo Colon, the 42 year old pitcher now with a lifelong Batting Average of .084 went deep against Padres Pitcher James Shields. It appeared to be any other at bat from the big man. There were 2 outs in the top of the second. Just like the previous 225 at bats it was about to be a routine out and Bartolo would be ready to pitch the bottom of the second. But this was different. Bartolo Colon used all of that lovely mass of his to crush that ball into left field where it escaped the ball park. Bartolo Colon, the 2005 CY Young AL winner made history in that moment. Bartolo, you will never be forgotten.
