Patrick Mahomes' Contract Isn't Crazy

Yeah I said it. It is not crazy at all and he deserves every penny of it. This man is the most dominant player in the NFL and some can even say he's the most dominant player in all of sports. And yes 500 million dollars sounds a lot but keep in mind this is over a 10 year period of being a professional athlete which is not an easy job no matter how good you are. Here's the biggest point. 500 million over 10 years is 50 million a year. So 10 years from now he'll still be making 50 million. And as crazy as it sounds 50 million a year in 2030 will not be a lot for the best quarterback in the NFL. Lets look at history for example. In 2000 the highest paid QB in the NFL was Troy Aikman at 9.5 million. 10 years later in 2010 the highest paid quarterback was Tom Brady at 18 million which is nearly double of 10 years earlier. Now in 2020, the highest paid QB was Russell Wilson at 35 million which is nearly double from 10 years earlier. So in 2030 it is only fair to say that the highest salary will be somewhere around 70 million which means Mahomes won't even be the highest paid QB. Odds are Mahomes' contract will be negotiated in some way cause 50 million isn't even going to be a lot in 2030. So Congrats Mahomes. Enjoy your payday. But the Chiefs got a bargain.
