What a fight. Honestly this is what UFC is all about. Two guys not giving a fuck about their health and just trying to beat the shit out of each other because that's what they were born to do. I think the second round of this fight was the most offensive UFC fight in history. These guys were just going back and forth without even putting their hands up to try to block a punch. This fight had a ton of hype going into it with these guys being ranked the 3 and the 5 in the most stacked division in the UFC and it completely lived up to the expectations. I don't know how Hooker survived that arm bar that he was put in by Poirier. But by the end of the first 4 rounds these guys were totally gassed. Hooker was basically hopeless and was just trying to land some takeouts because he was breathing like he'd been smoking cigarettes for 80 years. Poirier walked away with the unanimous decision victory and it was well deserved. While I scored the fight as 3-2 in favor of Poirier which is close by all means, there was no question that Poirier deserved the W. We still don't know what the next fight for Poirier is going to be. It looks like Gaethje will be fighting against Khabib for the championship which leaves Poirier without a clear opponent. Its possible he will fight the winner of that fight or some say he can even fight McGregor which would be one hell of a fight. Whatever the future holds for this lightweight division, I can safely say that tonight, it felt like real sports were actually back. And that's all we can ask for.
