Seattle Seahawks Season Outlook

The Seahawks had a very solid season by going 11-5, earning a wild card, and then making it to the second round of the playoffs before losing to the Green Bay Packers. They actually came one yard a way from winning the division in week 17 when a pass was complete to Jacob Hollister on a fourth and goal with less than 10 seconds remaining but he got stopped on the one yard line. Hollister was closer than Kevin Dyson was during the final play of Super Bowl XXXIV. Anyway, I think the Seahawks would've made it to the Super Bowl if their backfield was not plagued with injuries. Seattle, being one of the run heaviest offenses over the last couple years, uses a running back by committee. Chris Carson is the primary running back but Rashaad Penny gets his fair share of touches too. In week 14, Penny suffered an ACL injury in which he was deemed to be out for the season. Then in week 16, Chris Carson suffered a hip injury and third string running back (at the time backup), C.J. Prosise suffered a broken arm. Both were ruled out for the remainder of the season. The day after their week 16 game, the Seahawks signed Marshawn Lynch for the remainder of the season to lead their backfield. Lynch had retired and was not in good shape but it is Beast Mode so they had to make the move. The reason I say the Seahawks would've made it to the Super Bowl or at least got past the Packers is because aside from Russell Wilson, the Seahawks had 46 total rushing yards and only lost by five. Carson and/or Penny would've really helped that Seattle offense. I think both are healthy this year and I expect the Seahawks to be one of the league's best teams again (unless they sign Antonio Brown. There are rumors they will.) Below is my regular season prediction for the Seattle Seahawks.

Week 1: @ Atlanta Falcons - win

Week 2: vs. New England Patriots - win

Week 3: vs. Dallas Cowboys - win

Week 4: @ Miami Dolphins - win

Week 5: vs. Minnesota Vikings - win

Week 6: Bye Week

Week 7: @ Arizona Cardinals - loss

Week 8: vs. San Francisco 49ers - win

Week 9: @ Buffalo Bills - loss

Week 10: @ Los Angeles Rams - win

Week 11: vs. Arizona Cardinals - win

Week 12: @ Philadelphia Eagles - loss

Week 13: vs. New York Giants - win

Week 14: vs. New York Jets - win

Week 15: @ Washington Redskins - loss

Week 16: vs. Los Angeles Rams - win

Week 17: @ San Francisco 49ers - loss

I have the Seahawks going 11-5 which would tie them with the 49ers. Also, similarly to the 49ers, they will start off very hot and then tail off due to a tough schedule in the second half of their season. The win in week 10 in Los Angeles against the Rams is huge. Road wins are very tough to come by in this stacked division. This ultimately might give the Seahawks the division tiebreaker over the 49ers. In week 12, the Seahawks visit the Philadelphia Eagles. This is a rematch of last years wild card matchup. I think Carson Wentz and the Eagles will get their revenge even though the Sehawks are the much better team. This loss is avoidable but one that I think is likely to happen.

*At the end of this series, once I have gone through every team, I will give my playoff predictions as well as season awards.*
