The man who was compared to Babe Ruth not to long ago has had himself quite an eventful day. Shoei Ohtani has been plagued by injury for the past couple seasons so today he got his first start on the mound in the recent past. This man has been one of the hottest prospects to enter the MLB in the last 5 seasons and has been hyped up for his ability to hit and apparently his ability to pitch. However today was not really his day. Shoei has the infamous infinite ERA. What does this mean? Shoei failed to get an out in his first start of the season. This doesn't even seem possible for a man of Shoei's incredible caliber. He walked three batters and allowed three hits resulting in a 5 run first inning without even being able to retire a batter. This is exactly what I will never understand about baseball. There are so many "prospects" that are always supposed to be the greatest players we have ever seen and then we get performances like this from Ohtani. Enjoy having the letters INF under the ERA category for the next few days.
