Washington Redskins Season Outlook

The Washington Redskins finished last year 3-13 as the second worst team in the league. They just simply had an awful team and it didn't help that their best offensive lineman, Trent Williams, did not play due to frustrations with his contract. After 5 years of being the head coach, Jay Gruden was fired since the team went 0-5 to start the year. The Redskins hired longtime Panthers head coach, Ron Rivera, this offseason and he looks to rebuild this Redskins team after being fired by the Panthers last year after a poor start. Rivera did have some success with the Panthers during his eight and a half year tenure with the Panthers including a Super Bowl appearance so I am a big fan of the signing. In addition, the Redskins drafted Chase Young with second overall pick in the draft. I didn't see him play much in college honestly but experts are saying he has superstar potential. I don't think the Redskins are close to competing for real yet but they have a couple young players that they can definitely build around. Below is my regular season prediction for the Washington Redskins.

Week 1: vs. Philadelphia Eagles - loss

Week 2: @ Arizona Cardinals - loss

Week 3: @ Cleveland Browns - loss

Week 4: vs. Baltimore Ravens - loss

Week 5: vs Los Angeles Rams - win

Week 6: @ New York Giants - loss

Week 7: vs. Dallas Cowboys - loss

Week 8: Bye Week

Week 9: vs. New York Giants - win

Week 10: @ Detroit Lions - loss

Week 11: vs. Cincinnati Bengals - loss

Week 12: @ Dallas Cowboys - loss

Week 13: @ Pittsburgh Steelers - loss

Week 14: @ San Francisco 49ers - loss

Week 15: vs. Seattle Seahawks - win

Week 16: vs. Carolina Panthers - win

Week 17: @ Philadelphia Eagles - loss

I have the Redskins going 4-12 this year and finishing one game ahead of the Giants as they won't be the worst team in the NFC East in back to back seasons. I have the Redskins grabbing two surprise victories against the Rams and Seahawks. I think the Redskins will be one of those teams that isn't good but just wins unexpected games. The most important win for the Redskins (maybe irrelevant to the rest of the NFL) is the win against the Panthers. This is going to be revenge for firing Ron Rivera. I think it will be very competitive because both teams know what's at stake. I like the Redskins in a high scoring back and forth game. One exciting game for the entire NFL to watch is in week 11 when the Redskins visit the Bengals. The first and second overall pick in this past draft (Joe Burrow and Chase Young) will face off for the first time. Chase Young circled that date on his calendar as he wants to prove he was the best player in the draft by sacking Burrow.

*At the end of this series, once I have gone through every team, I will give my playoff predictions as well as season awards.*
